pre-K and K mechanics

You've likely heard the addage equating "old dogs" with "new tricks." Well, there's also the one about never being too young to learn. On our recent trip to Iowa, my brother provided the proof to that statement.

We visited his automotive shop one morning and found Marshal (my brother), pulling out new parts to put on an engine he was building. Talk about being in the right place at the right time! Anna, Rachel, and Elly were all granted a hands-on lesson in mechanics.

Anna helped smear on some kind of lubricant; Rachel cleaned and hauled around a set of allen wrenches; and Elly dutifully wiped off some of the parts and carried around a new chain that would soon be fitted. Uncle Marshal proved a good teacher and found an eager audience in our girls.

Who knows? Perhaps one day we can turn all of our automotive care needs over to our daughters. Who said the Lord can't provide?
