behold! a house!

Well, our lovely green roof is on, therefore work has begun to progress on the interior.
We now have our front door on (it will come off to be stained), and are waiting for the rear doors to be installed. While we wait for those things, the drywall guys have been at work putting the walls up. It looks much different not being able to see through the walls from room to room. It's a sudden transformation of the house from the simple skeleton to having "flesh and skin".
It's nice to have steps leading up to the front door and not a long plank. As you can see in the picture, the girls have a great appreciation for the steps. The pictures here show the interior looking from the great room through the dining room into the kitchen. With the drywall up, it looks a lot different! The last picture is Elly and Jolene standing on the balcony.
While crews come and go, Matthew and I have been busy picking out brick colors for the fireplace, shake color and texture for the peaks on the exterior, and making final decisions about interior color. We've also done our share of shopping around for appliances. As I reported last time, our cooktop is inhabiting our living room. We've been praying for a wall oven to come our way (in our price range), and searching every sales area, of every appliance store we can find. Pray that we will be able to find an oven and a dishwasher without completely destroying our allowance for this area. Also pray that we will be able to find a refrigerator and a washer and dryer, since we don't own any of these things.
