Monday evening marked a big step for Anna - it was her first piano recital. She started taking lessons in September 2009 and has worked hard with each new element. She truly enjoys playing her songs and tinkering around on the instrument, so our house has been filled with (mostly) sweet songs. Anna kept telling me that she was shy, but was excited to play her songs. After mistakenly starting on the wrong song, she quickly corrected herself and did her memorized piece called "Will you, Won't you?" She did it wonderfully! I was so excited for her. But I was nervous for her second song, because she was to accompany a flautist and the piece was a little tricky. She received the music for it just before Easter and had truly labored over it the next few weeks. Even Monday afternoon it was still shaky, but she seemed unalarmed.
WELL, Anna saved her best for when it counted and the "Salt and Pepper March" was awesome! She was beaming, so excited to have gotten it. I could tell that she wasn't nervous, just really happy to be doing something she enjoyed and doing it well.
I took a video of her first song. I didn't want to miss her duet with the flute, so you'll just have to trust me that it was great!
