They rolled out of Iowa just before an ice storm hit, and escaped to the balmy south. They were greeted by sunny, warm weather when they arrived. It was so lovely, that Mom decided to share their "gift" with the girls. Can you guess what it was? SNOW! all the way from frigid IA! Actually, there wasn't much left in the cooler, but it was enough to build a 10" snowman and have a brief snowball fight. Anna loved it and her competative side kicked in. Rachel giggled a lot (what's new?) and Elly wasn't sure what to think. After a little while, she did throw a "snowball" at Grandpa's knee.
Sadly, the warmth was short lived and chilly, rainy weather set in. This crazy "global warming!" (Sarcasm!)
It was good to have adults to talk to during the day. The girls did a good job of giving their grandparents a look at our lives. In fact, they all threw in (at various times) fits and tantrums just to authenticate the experience. (Dad and Mom, I hope you realize that you had "insider access" to our lives!)

With the weather not cooperating, we stayed inside, played games, held school, and just chatted. Mom taught the girls some sketch skills, of which they have been diligently practicing. Dad taught Anna and Rachel the fine art of spinning a wooden top. We also twisted their arms into playing "Ticket to Ride" (a fun, challenging game of building railroads), and we enjoyed good food together. All this was seasoned with great conversation over scripture, our work in the Lord's kingdom, and special moments of prayer. Such a blessing!

So, any of you snowbirds who are itching to thaw out, come on down! I can't guarantee 70 degree weather, but our stuff sure beats snow, ice, and -10 in the sunshine!
